During the Summer of 2006, Culés in the United States and Mexico were among the first to watch the 2005/2006 Spanish and European Champions, FC Barcelona in action!
Barça's annual preseason tour, labeled "On Tour USA 2006", saw the
Blaugrana play friendly matches in Guadalajara, Mexico, Houston, Los Angeles, and New York (press release:

Thanks to our Penya's agreement with Major League Soccer, we obtained a discounted ticket price for the match between the reigning European Champions and the New York Red Bulls on Saturday, August 12, 2006.
With 400 petitions, our Penya was the largest purchaser of group tickets for the match. Such was the popularity of the event that we could have sold 400 more seats alongside our Penya's special sections at Giants Stadium.
We also organized a Caravan of 4 air-conditioned buses to attend this match, which left for Giants Stadium from Bar Nevada Smith's (74 Third Avenue in Manhattan) and returned to the bar after the match on Saturday, August 12, 2006.
THE PENYA'S TICKETS, SEATS ON THE CARAVAN, AND THE MATCH ITSELF WERE ALL SOLD OUT WELL BEFORE THE GAME! THE RED BULLS ALSO CONFIRMED THAT THE GAME HAD A SELLOUT CROWD OF NEARLY 80,000 SPECTATORS.
